Connetquot TEACHERS ASSOCIATION SPONSORS
WARM HEARTS, WARM HANDS
Ronkonkoma, NY --- Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Tony Felicio, Jr., today announced the successful conclusion to a program designed to help needy youngsters. “Connetquot teachers collected, and donated, hundreds of hats, scarves, gloves, books and toys which were delivered to the Children’s Center at the Cohalan Court Complex in Central Islip. “The program we call Warm Hearts, Warm Hands was coordinated by teachers Lisa Manzo & Joanna McManaman. The collected ‘goodies’ were delivered, on January 20th, to Mrs. Wendy A. Meyer of the Education & Assistance Corporation”, according to Felicio.
The Children Center’s Head Teacher, Mrs. Wendy Meyer, had explained the need for hats and mittens for children who pass through the center. The Children’s Center provides a safe area for youngsters while families are involved in court proceedings. According to Felicio “ … the Children’s Center is a safe haven for youngsters, and the Connetquot Teachers Association is proud to partner with them to make a difference in children’s lives. As educators we are in the business of caring for children, and we give back to those less fortunate.”
Mrs. Meyer, said that “when the children leave for the day, they are given a book to take home and, as a result of the CTA’s support, we can also provide them with a hat, gloves and scarf. When I see a smile on a child’s face, I know I’ve done a good thing for them.”
Mr. Felicio praised Mrs. Meyer for her dedication, and Connetquot teachers for their support of the Warm Hearts, Warm Hands program. “This is another example of how Connetquot teachers extend themselves to help children. Our teachers have always given generously of their time, and resources, and will continue to be closely involved in the needs of our community,” said the CTA President.
Congratulations to all the special people who made this successful community project possible.
