Lack of Foresight and Planning
Leads to Sustained Lateness of Buses
The Association has been receiving
feedback from a number of elementary schools that
the buses continue to be late. This is an untenable
situation for students, parents and teachers. The
students are being picked up from school and dropped
off at home at variable times resulting in parents
not knowing when their children will be home. Teachers
are missing important appointments, being late for
their own children and paying additional monies to
cover childcare expenses. This is all occurring and
the inclement weather has not arrived.
The promises from the District that
this problem would be remedied in a timely fashion
have proven to be empty words. After remaining silent
on the issue for the entire month, the District has
finally acknowledged that this problem will not be
solved during this school year.
The Association is calling upon the
Board of Education to investigate the reasons for
the continued bus lateness. The Association is also
calling on the District to exercise better planning
and forethought on things that affect students and
parents and all District personnel, including teachers,
secretaries, principals, etc.
